Beautiful boy其实是约翰蓝侬写给儿子西恩蓝侬( Sean Lennon )的歌。约翰蓝侬结过两次婚，第一次的婚姻和前妻生下了朱利安蓝侬( Julian Lennon )，他和"披头四"的作曲搭档保罗麦卡尼合写了 Hey, Jude 送给了朱利安。后来约翰蓝侬又和日籍的小野洋子( Yoko Ono )结婚，生下西恩蓝侬，并写下 Beautiful boy送给他。
和两任妻子生下的两个孩子长大后都克绍箕裘，步入歌坛。朱利安在８０年代中期即连续发表了几张颇受好评的个人专辑；较晚出生的西恩在１９９８年推出首张个人专辑「迎向阳光」( Into the sun )，也获得不错的评价。
