　　After considering the proposal put forward by the Central Military Commission for approval of the opening of Nanjing Port to foreign vessels²， the 14th Meeting of the Standing Committee of the Sixth National People's Congress has decided³ to approve the opening of Nanjing Port on the Yangtze River to foreign vessels. The State Council is authorized to grant approval in the future when there is a need to open other ports along the Yangtze River between Nanjing Port and the mouth of the river to foreign vessels
