China kicked off new-season warm-up campaign with a 88-46 thrash over New Zealand at an International women's basketball competition on Wednesday.
The New Zealand team is a mixed one with many new faces who joined the national team after it beat China 79-77 at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
After a brief 6-7 trailing at the beginning of the match, China broke off with nine straight point to take the control of the gameand extended1 the lead on each quarter after that.
"We played at a high level no matter how the New Zealand team played. We are a better team than them and we showed it in the game, " said Chinese head coach Tom Maier, who was the manager of the New Zealand at Athens in 2004.
