hustler: 妓女

继“伏明霞脏裤子”、“李湘荡妇装”和“赵薇军旗装”等事件之后，漂亮的孙俪因一件“妓女”T恤再次出尽风头。4月6日，女演员孙俪一张新写真照片在网上流传，照片中孙俪穿了一件前胸印有英文单词“HUSTLER”的T恤。“Hustler”在俚语中表示“妓女，拉皮条”。面对公众的指责，孙俪的经纪人连忙喊冤，说“HUSTLER”这个单词的意思是“积极向上的人”，在俚语中才是“妓女”。

Hustler在英语中确实有多种涵义，先看引起舆论哗然的“妓女”一意，在俚语中，hustler可以解释为： a prostitute who attracts customers by walking the streets（到街上拉客的妓女），其同义词有：streetwalker或street girl。

另外，俚语中，hustler也可解释为：a shrewd or unscrupulous person who knows how to circumvent² difficulties（精明的算计者，骗子，赌徒），如：Our neighbors paid thousands of dollars to that hustler. （我们的邻居被那个骗子骗了几千元。） 1962年奥斯卡获奖影片“The Hustler”，其中文译名为《江湖浪子》，影片以写实手法描写了以打台球赌博为生的年轻职业球手艾迪所生存的的残酷世界。

再来看孙俪经纪人的解释：an intensely energetic, enthusiastic person（洋溢着朝气、充满活力的人）。如：In my opinion，Jim is a hustler who never gives up in life and keeps hustling³ through out trials and tribulations⁴.（在我看来，吉姆总是充满热情应对生活的挫折和艰难，从未放弃过对生活的希望）。

既然经纪人已帮助澄清了这个不大不小的误会，“妓女”T恤风波似乎也该到此为止。但是，这些看似偶遇的事件确实也给我们敲了个警钟：“善用”英文单词哦，尤其是在您购买印有外文字母样式的服装时，怪僻的词值得一番推敲！
