Chinanews, Beijing, Sept. 8 – More and more college students are learning English in coffee bars In Beijing. Several colleges have already opened their own “Speak English” places -- “free talking” venues1 as they are called -- to attract students.
Recalling her college life, Ms.Xu said that as many students were reluctant to speak English, after practicing speaking English for a short while, they would speak Chinese again. Currently practicing one’s English in coffee bars is fashionable, and some students even invite foreigners to participate. Mr. Song, a student from Beijing Foreign Studies University revealed that such activities would cost him 100 yuan per month.
