| Chinanews, Beijing, Mar1. 5 – About 50 million people snore in China, with 48% of them suffering from high blood pressure and over half of them having coronary heart diseases. Related investigation2 shows that people who snore are seven times more likely to experience traffic accidents than those who do not, the CCTV International Channel reported.
In fact, many people snore when they sleep. In the past, most people thought that snoring was the problem only of old people. This reporter was recently informed that nowadays, many young people snore, too.
The reporter was informed that the number of patients who go to see a doctor in the E.N.T. (ear-nose-throat) department in hospitals has increase recently, most of them young people. In Beijing Shijitan Hospital, doctors receive some 20 patients every day. 30-year-old Xiao Wang is one of them.
Xiao Wang was puzzled by, for he thought that the disease occurred only among old people.
Snoring is mostly caused by obesity3. Nowadays, most young people are put under high work pressure, they exercise little and have an irregular life habit. Therefore young people become fatter than they used to be, said Doctor Xie in the hospital.
