             The Poultries
            Let’s think of eggs.
            They have no legs.
            Chickens come from eggs
            But have legs.
            The plot thickens;
            Eggs come from chickens,
            But have no legs under’em
            What a conundrum1!

              家禽
             让我们想想蛋,
             它们没有腿。
             鸡来自蛋,
             却有腿。
             情节变得复杂;
             蛋来自鸡,
             但下面却没有腿。
             这真是一个迷!

              The Duck
             Behold2 the duck.
             It does not cluck.
             A cluck it lacks.
             It quacks3.
             It is specially4 fond
             Of a puddle5 or pond.
             When it dines or sups,
             It bottoms ups.

                鸭子
              瞧那只鸭子。
              它不是傻子。
              少了个笨蛋,
              它嘎嘎叫唤。
              它特别喜欢,
              水坑或池塘。
              当进食饮水,
              它屁股翘起。

              The Cuckoo
          Cuckoos lead Bohemian lives,
They fail as husbands and as wives,
          Therefore they cynically6 disparage7
          Everybody else’s marriage.

               杜鹃
            杜鹃过着放荡不羁的生活,
            它们不能作为丈夫或老婆,
            因而对别人冷嘲热讽,
            诋毁他们的婚姻生活。

                The Ostrich8
The ostrich roams the great Sahara.
Its mouth is wide, its neck is narra.
It has such long and lofty legs,
I’m glad it sits to lay its eggs.

                  鸵鸟
              鸵鸟在广袤的撒哈拉漫游。
              嘴巴宽宽而脖子细细。
              它有那么高而长的腿,
              我真高兴它是坐下来生蛋。
