China's HNA Group, the parent of Hainan Airlines, is reportedly poised¹ to become the second Chinese company to own a Spanish soccer team.

HNA is now said to be in advanced negotiations² with Barcelona-based Real Club Deportivo Espanyol.

HNA is reportedly planning to purchase a 43 percent stake in the club for 10 million euros.

Hong Kong-listed investment group Fosum is also said to be interested in purchasing a 51 percent stake in the team.

However, it's being suggested Espanyol's management would favor the HNA offer as it would allow them to keep control of the team.
