A total of 41 small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) were added to China's New Third Board over the past week, latest data showed.

最新数据显示，过去的一周共有41家中小企业被加入新三板名单。

The newcomers brought the total number of companies listed on the National Equities¹ Exchange and Quotation² (NEEQ) system to 11,109.

Weekly turnover³ on the board was about 4.7 billion yuan (about 682.1 million U.S. dollars) during the period, down 10 percent from the previous week.

The NEEQ debuted⁴ in 2006 as an experimental platform for small, non-listed high-tech⁵ enterprises in Zhongguancun Science Park, Beijing. The present system was officially established on Jan. 16, 2013.

It complements⁶ the country's existing stock exchanges, the SME board and the ChiNext board. The board is seen as an easy financing channel with low costs and simple listing procedures.
