Chinanews, Guangzhou, March 1 - Guangdong Province's water rationing1 plan will be trial-implemented, beginning today, which will focus on the water consumption of enterprises and administrative2 departments, rather than ordinary citizens.
According to the plan, the citizens in bigger cities will have larger water quotas3. Take Guangzhou for an example,a Guangzhou citizen can use as many as 210 litres of water (about nine barrels), as Guangzhou is a super-large city with a total permanent population of 9 million. The plan is meant to help Guangdong to survive the current water crisis. It is believed that it will help the citizens learn to treasure the rare water resources there. Besides, to make the most of limited natural resources is a basic necessity to the building of a harmonious4 society.
