Chinanews, Hangzhou, April 6 - Taobao.com, the biggest "C2C" (consumer to consumer) electronic commerce site in Asia announced that more than 100 thousand Chinese have become professional C2C online store owners on Taobao.com. The low costs and rapid physical distribution of online C2C stores are the two main reasons for their popularity.
Nowadays, online stores have offered numerous job opportunities, and many people with stable jobs also open online stores as moonlighting. Some of the most successful online store owners even set up companies to better manage their business. Some B2C (business to customers) online stores also set up their branches on Taobao.com. It is estimated that Taobao.com alone offers jobs to some 400 thousand people. Alibaba Co, Ltd, a B2B (business to business) electronic commerce company in China, conducted a survey, finding that people aged1 between 18 and 45 like online store best, and they are the most prone2 to open online stores of their own. The Internet has become a great treasure vault3 where everyone can find his fortune if he keeps looking for it carefully enough. According to the State Statistics Bureau, the average monthly income of urban Chinese in 2006 was 980 yuan per capita, and the figure in Beijing was 1,778 yuan, while the average monthly income of Taobao subscribers was nearly 10,000 yuan per capita.
