Chinanews, Shanghai, Sept. 29 – With the gradual opening of China's economy, more and more outstanding local Chinese professional managers have begun to dominate high-level positions in foreign enterprises in China.
On September 28, Fudan University released the report of a first ever research on the "Management of the Leading Foreign Enterprises in China", showing that more and more foreign enterprises in China plan to or have started to recruit local Chinese managers, with the proportion exceeding 70 percent. The research involved more than 40 well-known foreign companies, such as the Citibank of New York, General Electric Co., and Ford1 Motor Co., in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangdong, Zhejiang, and other major business areas in China, According to the research, an increasing number of big, fast-expanding foreign companies in China have shown the tendency to employ more Chinese local professional managers in the expanding process. Statistics show 70.5 percent of these companies are considering to hunt for Chinese managers, with most planning to complete the recruitment in three years. Only 29.5 percent do not have such intention. Experts reveal that there tends to be an increasingly severe competition between these foreign companies to snatch capable local Chinese talents, some of them having spelled out a specific 2-year recruitment scheme for gradual implementation2.
