Chinanews, Beijing, May 12 – According to a report issued by Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), China will lack labor1 force in the Eleventh Five-Year Plan period (2006-2010), probably in 2009. Such change will bring salary raise in the near future.
Cai Fangfa, an expert from CASS, was in charge of compiling this report, titled "China's Employment Development", in which he points out that Chinese labor market is mainly supported by people from the rural areas. Cai reveals that there is currently only a 52-million-strong surplus labor force in the countryside, not 100 million as estimated before. The report indicates that China’s labor force will develop in an imbalanced way in the next few years, and more and more cities in central China will be under the pressure of lacking in labor force just like coastal2 cities.
