Chinanews, Beijing, June 1 -According to Sun Qin, deputy director of the Commission of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence, the State Council of China has approved the mid-and long-term development plan for nuclear power in China (2005 - 2010), saying that by 2020, China's nuclear power capacity will reach 40 million kw, with another 18 million kw under construction.   The information is disclosed in the Development Plan for Nuclear Industry during the 11th Five-Year Plan Period, which was published recently.   Sun believes nuclear power will be the most important energy source in the future, and the only practical substitute for fossil energy. In the next 10 or 15 years, China will build at least 3 nuclear power plants. Besides, China should invest more effort on the development of nuclear-related technologies, which is the only way to make the most of the energy economically.   The building of nuclear power plants will also serve as a booster to other related industries, like machine building and nuclear fuel producing and recycling.
