Chinanews, Hangzhou, Nov. 10 - Assistant Minister of Commerce Wang Chao said on Thursday that as a developing country, China had attracted the most foreign investments for 15 years consecutively1.
He made the statement while attending a forum2 titled 2006 Dialogue Between Chinese Private Enterprises and Global Top 500 Companies held in Wenzhou, east China’s Zhejiang Province. By the end of September, China had attracted over 665 billion US dollars worth of foreign investments in total. About 200 countries and regions had made investments in China and 480 of the global top 500 enterprises had also set up offices or manufacturing plants in China. As a developing country, China had attracted the most foreign investments for 15 years consecutively, the official noted3. He said that private enterprises had played an increasingly important role in China’s national economy. At present, they have contributed to over 50% of the GDP in China, and this proportion is expected to further rise to 75% in four years. Multinational4 companies and Chinese private enterprises can hold in-depth talks discussing the specific industrial fields where they can cooperate, and also their cooperative modes, in order to gain mutual5 benefits from the cooperation.
