Chinanews, Beijing, Nov. 30 – Information from the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Department under the Ministry1 of Commerce shows that from January to October this year, trade volume between mainland and Taiwan reached 88.03 billion US dollars, up 20.4% from last year. However, mainland's trade deficit2 to Taiwan reached 54.1 billion US dollars.
During the first ten months of this year, mainland's export to Taiwan reached 16.96 billion US dollars, up 27.1% from last year; its import from Taiwan climbed to 71.07 billion US dollars, up 18.9% from last year. Mainland's trade deficit to Taiwan reached 54.11 billion US dollars, increasing by 16.6% over last year, according to the report. From January to October, mainland approved 2,932 Taiwan investment projects, decreasing by 6.6% from last year. The actual use of Taiwan investment reached 1.7 billion US dollars, 1.2% less than last year. By the end of October, mainland had approved altogether 71,027 Taiwan investment projects, and the actual use of Taiwan investment reached 43.46 billion US dollars, accounting3 for 6.5% of the total overseas investment absorbed by the mainland.
