Chinanews, Beijing, August 10 – According to the spokesperson of the General Administration of Quality Supervision1, Inspection2 and Quarantine of China (GAQSIQ), most products exported by China to the US are up to the required quality standard of the latter. In fact, China is confident in its exports quality control measures.
In 2006, about 300 thousand batches3 of toys were shipped to the US from China, and there were 29 cases involving Chinese toys called back by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) The GAQSIQ will surely beef up quality supervision of China’s exports in the near future by setting up a complete inspection system covering the whole manufacturing procedure. Since most of toys exported to the US are OEM products made according to the designs of American enterprises, most of the importers should also be responsible for the quality problems of such products. For example, CPSC once called back 300 sets of magnet building pieces made in China, which were made exactly according to the requirement of the importer. Besides, these building pieces met the quality standard of the US at that time. GAQSIQ also wishes importers to check their designs more carefully in the future, and they should beef up their quality supervision, too.
