Chinanews, Dalian, Sept 8 – Recently, there are some rumours1 which say that Chinese government might raise the capital threshold for mainland companies to go public in Hong Kong. In responding to these rumours, Chairman of Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) Shang Fulin said on Thursday in Dalian that the central government had not made any changes in its policy of supporting mainland companies to go public in Hong Kong. Nor had it raised the capital threshold for them. He further said that at present, the price difference between a company’s A-share and H-share would continue to remain in the short term.
With regard to the different share prices that occurred to the same company that had both A-shares and H-shares in the mainland and Hong Kong, Shang said H-shares were mainly trageted at overseasl investors2 while A-shares were mostly targeted at mainland investors. Overseas investors and mainland investors may use different criteria3 to assess the same listed company. So the price difference between the A-share and H-share of the same company will still remain in the short term, said Shang.
