Chinanews, New York, November 15 – Duane Long, now 54, started his business 23 years ago with a mere1 $500, but at present he is one of the most important physical distributors in North Carolina. Many local people know him as a successful businessman, but don't know that he cherishes2 an unusual China dream.
All three members in Long's family have a Chinese name each, himself called Duane Long, his wife Pei Long and their son Bao Long. Last year, Duane donated $30,000 and a 450-sq-m venue3 to start the first China Center in North Carolina. “My son has been in love with Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy, and my heart has gone out to China under his influence,” said Duane. This year, Bao Long will go to China to study for his Ph.D. In fact, Duane isn't so much crazy about Chinese philosophy as his son. To him, China means a great business opportunity. Now, the China Center launched by Duane has established a long-term cooperation with Suzhou Industrial Garden, and the representative offices of each other have been set up to convenience businesspeople from both Suzhou and North Carolina. “China is on the rise, and its fast development will bring a lot of opportunities,” said Duane, “We have made several friends in Suzhou, Shanghai, Shandong, etc.” “I don’t have a long-term goal in pursuing my China dream, as I am a practical businessman, but I will try my best to build a bridge between China and the US, which will bring numerous chances of business and cultural cooperation and deepen4 the friendship between the two peoples, ” said Duane.
