Chinanews, Guangzhou, February 6 – Guangdong Provincial¹ Department of Land and Resources said that it would impost² a tax on those who own more than one housing.

However, it will be very difficult to put this policy into practice. Quite a lot of Cantonese have more than one housing, thus it will be very difficult to tell extra housings. Besides, many people buy extra housings in the name of their relatives.

Several property agencies believe instead of implementing³ too many policies to suppress demands, including interest rate hike and second-hand⁴ housing tax, the government should work hard to increase supply. Han Shitong, an expert on the property industry, agrees to this point of view. “The government should supply more land, and encourage real estate developers to build more small-sized housings,” said Han.
