Alibaba's executive chairman Jack¹ Ma has said he is open to working with Apple on mobile payments.

Ma spoke² to a Wall Street Journal Digital Live conference on Monday, expressing his respect for Apple CEO Tim Cook.

Alibaba affiliate³ Alipay is China's largest payment service, while Apple has just debuted⁴ its mobile wallet Apple Pay this month.

Meantime, Alibaba has announced it is splitting its travel services from Taobao.com and renaming it Alitrip.

Alitrip provides a platform for individuals or agencies to offer sales of flight tickets, accommodation bookings, tours and visa-related services.

A survey by China's Internet market research agency iResearch shows China has seen an annual 40-percent surge in the use of online travel platforms, which are elbowing out traditional tourism agencies.
