A shop with no staff? How can that work?
听说过没有员工的商店?它是怎么运作的?
Introducing "BingoBox" Shanghai's first 24-hour unstaffed convenience store.
Once a customer has registered, they simply use their smart phone to gain access.
Once inside the door will close automatically to ensure their safety and security. After selecting their items, they scan a barcode to make payment, and away they go – not a single member of staff in sight.
The operators say the "BingoBox" self-service shop is innovative1, effective and a cheaper method for people to buy snacks and small items.
Currently, "BingoBox" comes in two sizes, medium and large, with areas of 12.48 square meters and 15.6 meters respectively. Even though the space is limited it can still offer a wide variety of products, such as food, drinks, dairy products and general necessities with longer shelf life.
Surveillance cameras and an automatic alarm system help prevent theft.
According to the latest reports, a similar unstaffed convenience store called 'Eatbox' will soon be opening in Beijing, with the self-service concept expected to quickly spread in other cities in China.
