New York fire officials have said 34 people suffered non-life-threatening injuries from a subway derailment in upper Manhattan on Tuesday.
纽约消防官员表示,周二曼哈顿上城地区一列地铁脱轨造成34人受伤,无生命危险。
According to the Fire Department of New York, two of the eight cars on the train derailed resulting in a power outage that led to evacuations along the subway line and delays throughout the system.
Fire Commissioner1 Daniel Nigro described the scene.
"What happened was, we had an A train traveling southbound derail, causing a small fire. What ends up happening is, there are four tracks underground here. All the trains traveling north and south were then stopped, so approximately 800 people on those trains now found themselves stopped in the tunnel below ground travelling both north and south."
Authorities said they found the emergency braking system on the train had triggered.
New York's Metropolitan2 Transportation Authority said transit3 officials were investigating what caused the emergency stop.
It's reported that service on the A, B, C and D lines has been suspended until the investigation4 is completed.
