The main body of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has been inspected and approved, meaning the world's longest sea-crossing bridge is now ready to open to traffic.

 

香港-珠海-澳门大桥主体部分已经通过检验，这座世界上最长的跨海大桥即将开放通车。

 

"The bridge will enhance the connection of the bay area, and boost exchange of personnel, goods, information and capital between the three cities. All three places will benefit. It also provides infrastructure¹ to guarantee better transportation, rapid development and integration² of the region," the deputy director of the Bridge Authority Yu Lie said.

 

With a total length of 55 km, the bridge's main section includes 23 kilometers of bridges, 7 kilometers of tunnels, and two artificial islands.

 

The bridge is a two-way six-lane highway.

 

Upon completion, it will cut down driving time between the three cities from the current three hours to only 30 minutes.
