Three tiny moon rocks collected by a Soviet1 space mission in 1970 are expected to sell for up to 1 million U.S. dollars at auction2 in November, according to a report by CNN.
本月举行的拍卖会上,1970年苏联航天任务中收集的三块微小的月球岩石有望以100万美元的价格出售。
Sotheby's said that the tiny rocks, valued at 700,000 to 1 million U.S. dollars, are the only privately-owned moon rocks.
The moon rocks were retrieved3 by the unmanned Luna-16 Mission in 1970. They were gifted by the Soviet Union to Nina Ivanovna Koroleva, the widow of former Soviet space program director Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, in recognition of her late husband's contribution to its space program.
