A recent survey published by China Youth Daily showed 89.3 percent of the 1,876 polled young Chinese expressed concerns over old-age care issues.
《中国青年报》近期发布的一项调查显示,接受调查的1876位年轻人有89.3%为养老问题担心。
Young people born between 1985 and 1989 worry more over caring for their parents, whereas the post-90s generation puts their own retirement1 life first, said the Beijing-based newspaper.
As for specific fears, 73.6 percent of the respondents said they don't have enough time or outside assistance to take care of their parents, and 52.6 percent said financial difficulties were a big concern.
Among the respondents, 2 percent are born in the 2000s, 8.5 percent between 1995 and 1999, 38 percent between 1990 and 1994, 32.8 percent between 1985 and 1989, and 18.7 percent between 1980 and 1984.
By region, 25.6 percent of the surveyed live in first-tier cities, 46.5 percent in second-tier cities, 23.4 percent in third- and fourth-tier cities, 3.9 percent in counties and towns, and 0.6 in rural areas.
