A two-month-old puppy arrived in Kunming earlier this month to receive professional training from the local police, reported stdaily.com. It is China's first cloned police dog.

 

本月初一只两个月大的小狗抵达昆明接受当地警方的训练，它是中国第一条克隆警犬。
 

 

Kunxun was cloned from a seven-year-old dog that helped in scores of cases. It got used to its new environment quickly and has a good personality, said Wan¹ Jiusheng, a researcher at Kunming Police Dog Base.

 

Kunxun can find food hidden in the grass quickly and is alert to various sounds, said Wan.

 

Police dogs start basic training when they are 75 days old. Six-month-old dogs will get additional specialized² training that varies from tracking to sniffing-out drugs to guard duty, according to Wan.

 

Kunxun may graduate from training after eight months.
