Chinanews, Beijing, March 27 – As the competition in finding a decent job has become fiercer and fiercer, many male college graduates in Beijing would accept plastic surgeries in order to enhance their competitiveness in job-hunting. Actually, in a recent survey, about 45% of the respondents agree with that.
Many young men have already taken action by going to spas and even hospitals. “Being handsome does have its advantages, especially when one is as competent as one's rivals. All companies surely want better-looking employees, any way, ” said Liu, a young man about to graduate in July, and quite a lot of college graduates share his view. In another survey in Beijing and Shanghai, 12% of male white-collar workers have accepted plastic surgeries, particularly on their teeth or eyes. Some 3% have even accepted major plastic surgeries. “Appearance is very important in job-hunting, and it is even one of the most important benchmarks to some interviewers,” said Bian Gubin, an employment consultant1. No wonder there are so many people worrying about their appearance. “However, most enterprises still pay more attention to the capabilities2 of employees, rather than their appearance, thus it is not necessarily important for all job-seekers to accept plastic surgeries just for looking for jobs,” added Bian.
