Chinanews, Beijing, March 29 - According to Ipsos China's recent survey in 7 Chinese cities (Qingdao, Qinhuangdao, Shanghai, Shenyang, Beijing, Tianjin and Guangzhou), 80% of urbanites in China are satisfied with their current life, despite the fact that over 50% of them complain about expensive educational and medical expenses, especially the well-off ones. Environmental problems is among their major concerns, too.
In Ipsos' report, Qingdao citizens are the most satisfied, with those who living in Qinhuangdao and Shanghai coming next, while Beijiners only rank fifth. Interestingly, all the top-3 cities are coastal1 ones; with more than 85% of their citizens feeling satisfied. Though Beijing is the capital of China and an international metropolis2, only 77.7% of Beijingers are satisfied. The case is similar in Guangzhou, where only 75.8% of the total population claim that their lives are satisfactory. The report also reveals that the higher one's income is, the more satisfied one tends to feel. Nearly 90% of the families each with a total monthly income of more than 8,000 yuan are satisfied. However, 1/3 of the families with a monthly income of less than 1,500 yuan are dissatisfied and feel pessimistic about their future.
