Chinanews, Changsha, Apr. 7 – According to Hunan Daily, in Hunan the pet-raising fever occurs not only in ordinary households but also in universities. Gil students enjoy playing with doggies or kittens, and boy students raise turtles, crabs1 or fish.
A student said, "When I’m not busy studying I like to play with my doggie and talk with it. I even recite my English text to it. In this way, my boring university life seems to have become lively.” Many students regard raising pets as a fashionable style of life. Because some superstars raise pets, and they also try to raise some. Most students are single children, and their parents have arranged everything for them. They feel that such life is tedious2, and raising pets shows that they are able to shoulder some responsibility. Most students like raising small pets, like fish or turtles, as universities do not allow students to raise large animals in their dormitories. Huang Xiangyang, a professor from a Hunan college said on Tuesday that students are allowed to participate in the drive for animal protection in their spare time.
