Chinaenews, Shanghai, April 30 - According to Liu Haisheng, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Urban Planning Administration, the development of Qingcaosha Drinking Water Source has been completed. Qingcaosha will provide Shanghai with 7.19 million tons of high-quality drinking water every day up to 2010, to meet approximately 10 million people's needs.
"Shanghai is not in lack of water, but not much of water here are of good quality. We are lucky to discover Qingcaosha in the Yangtze River," said Liu.
Currently, about 80% of drinking water in Shanghai is from the Huangpu River. Its quality ranks 3rd or 4th, while the water from Qingcaosha can rank as 1st, the best quality.
