Chinanews, Shanghai, June 1 – A survey among 1,500 college students from 8 universities in Shanghai was conducted to investigate the health conditions of college students. Over half of students interviewed say they are of sub-health due to too little exercise, all night surfing the Internet or playing E games and heavy school work.

The survey shows that a mere1 1/3 of the interviewees are confident in their health, while over half feel they are in sub-health. And the main cause is believed to be inadequate2 exercise. Except P.E.lesson, nearly 70% of all interviewees take exercise less than twice a week, no more than one hour each time.

More than 70% of respondents say that, every day, they engage in quiet activities like computer games for 6 to 8 hours except the sleeping hour. Over 48% say they do not feel well as they used to feel in their high school days.

In addition, heavy school work has also led to their sub-health condition. Among the students interviewed with an average of 30 class periods every week, nearly 40% spend three hours or more a day doing their homework. And many students take sleeping as their favorite way of relaxation3.
