Chinanews, Shanghai, June 4 - China published its report on drowning of kids on June 2, 2007, saying that drowning should be responsible for 60% of deaths of kids (aged between 1 and 14) in China.
Nearly 30,000 kids are drowned every summer, mostly due to the carelessness of their guardian1. It is said that more than 50% of drowned kids under 1 year old got drowned in the bathtubs, when their guardians2 were away. The report was based on a survey in Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Fuzhou, covering 3,462 parents. The survey also reveals that most respondents hardly know anything about the danger and the causes of the problem.
