Chinanews, Beijing, June 28 – A 50-year-old farmer in northeastern China recently became the focus of media. He changed his sex. Even more surprising, his wife supported him to do so, the Beijing News reported.

On June 20, the farmer, Old Chen, stood in front of the gate of the Liaoning Television Station. She was going to record a program for the TV station. On that day, she wore a blue dress with a blue-and-white striped scarf around her neck. She put her hands in front and stood still. When she saw an acquaintance coming near, she nodded her head, smoothing down her hair and then started to walk. Some people recognized her and greeted her. They said she dressed beautiful today. Hearing this, Old Chen waved her arms a little bit. She kept her fingernails and even polished them with enamel1 (although part of the enamel now stripped off). She wore a ring and two bracelets2 on her arms. In a few moments, Old Chen had freshened her make-up three times.

Previously3, Old Chen was named Chen Feifei and he was a male. Now, having changed his sex, Old Chen changed his name as Chen Luyu.

Six months ago, Old Chen took a transsexual operation, changing from a male to a female. At that time, he was already 50 years old. After taking the transsexual operation, he became more beautiful and younger. He became the oldest person in China to take transsexual operation.

His wife, Li Min (a pseudonym), said Old Chen was one of the few people in the village that had received education. He was a clever and deft4 man. He could fix many electronic devices. During the first few years after their marriage, Old Chen acquitted5 himself well as an ideal husband. After he finished study in senior high school, he dated his present wife under the arrangement of his parents. He fell in love with his present wife on the first dating and he even embraced her. Later, they got married and had two daughters.

One of the daughters, Xiao Ting (a pseudonym) said she supported her father to change his sex. Father had always been nice to them and so now, they supported to the decision he made. The only difference is that they now call their father "auntie".

“She is really a nice person. We don’t want to lose her,” Xiao Ting said.
