In fact, IM and blogs offer Chinese a large space to communicate with one another and at the same time protect their privacy. According to official statistics, Chinese sent 98.82 billion short messages via cellphones in the first quarter of 2007, about 1.098 billion every day, bringing great profits to service providers. In 2006, SMS generated a profit of 24.6 billion yuan. Some say that cellphones have become a vital part of our life, as they are one of the most important ways of communication for Chinese. Many people complain about their forgetfulness for failing to take cellphones with them, which shows their dependence2 on it. Besides, blogs’ popularity mostly comes from its interactiveness and anonymity3. It offers a free and equal environment for discussion. By 2006, there were 20.08 million blog writers, and Chinese blogs had more than 100 million visitors that year.
