Chinanews, Shenyang, Jul. 27 – In a small village of Anshan, Liaoning Province, local people believe for snakes to live with people can bring good luck. As a result, snakes can be seen living with people peacefully there.
Our reporter went to the village, and found Wang Dezhong, a 70-year-old villager, was playing with a snake. He said the snake had lived with his family for 5 years. The snake will leave his house for a long journey in the spring, and come back in the autumn, said Wang to our reporter. According1 to Wang, the snake eats rats, so his folks2 never think of raising a cat to catch rats. When asked if they feared the snake, Wang told our reporter that they had regarded the snake as a family member. Li Guoxin, 66, said that snakes were now everywhere in the village, some of them are very large. Another villager Liu Muhua told our reporter that he had seen with his own eyes a snake eating rats. According to some villagers, more than 90% of families in the village raise snakes.
