Chinanews, Beijing, August 9 – Not many people know the Bairin Right Banner, a county located in the southeast of Inner Mongolia Autonomous1 Region. Since it was selected as a national colorful stone supplier in the 1980s, its economy has been soaring.
The only commodities available at its morning market are Bairin stones, which are produced only in a mountain near the country. Every morning at 6:00, businesspeople from all around the country gather here to buy them. Bairin stones are one of the most famous materials for making stamps, and Genghis Khan once addressed those stones as “heavenly treasures”. Nowadays, miners still have to rely on manual work to explore for Bairin stones. It is said that they can only discover a Bairin stone out of 1,000 ordinary ones. Big Bairin stones are very rare at present. Many people have only seen them in museums. Bairin stone looks yellow and mild to the touch. Its natural pattern is one of its most precious features that not even the most talented painters can reproduce. Many Chinese artists in the past dreamed of owning a Bairin stone stamp.
