Chinanews, Beijing, Aug 11 – After the promotion1 of the use of small salt spoons, residents in Beijing will further be encouraged to use small cooking oil containers in order to help them live a healthy life. The exact capacity of the containers will be left up to the residents to decide.
Related research shows that an adult should take a maximum of 25 grams of oil every day and the intake2 of salt should not exceed 6 grams a day. However, Beijing residents usually prefer to cook dishes with much oil and salt. Their intake of oil and salt far exceeds the upper limit level. As a result, the incidence of chronic3 diseases such as high blood pressure, heart diseases, or diabetes4, is rising in Beijing year by year, a person in charge at the Disease Prevention and Control Department under the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau said on Wednesday.
