Chinanews, Wuhan, Aug 18 – In Wuhan, some divorced middle-aged1 women like to remarry Western men. Although they are no longer young, many of them choose to learn English from the very beginning. In order to pay the expensive service fees, some even sell their houses, the Chutian Metropolis2 Daily reported.

Today, many Western men are willing to come to China to marry a divorced Chinese woman who has a child. To Western men, a divorced woman who can raise a child must be strong-willed and at the same time have a loving heart.

Some middle-aged Chinese women complain that most Chinese men of their age are already married. For those divorced men, if they have good physical or financial conditions, they would like to remarry a younger woman. If a divorced Chinese man happens to have a similar background to a woman, he might feel uncomfortable with the fact that she has a child. The reason that we choose to marry Western men is not because we prefer Western men to Chinese men, but only because we have no other choices, say some Chinese women.

For Ms. Xie, 43, she wishes that her marriage date, August 28, could come earlier.

By August 28, she will have run through the marriage registration3 procedures with her new husband David, a 48-year-old British man. David's parents will also come to China from Britain on that day to celebrate their marriage.

Ms. Xie now works in the Yichang TV Station. She divorced her ex-husband 10 years ago and since then, she has been living with her daughter. In January this year, she started to consider marrying a Western man. She didn't expect that the new idea has brought her so many changes in life.

David's ex-wife was a sweet Shanghai woman. At that time, David worked in Shanghai as a regional executive president of a British bank in the Southeast Asia region. However, unexpectedly, his ex-wife had cancer not long after their marriage and she died three months after she was diagnosed as suffering from the fatal disease. After her wife’s death, David wrote their love stories into a book. Later, he gave all the royalty4 to his wife's family.

On April 27, David decided5 to come to Wuhan to meet Ms. Xie.

“On that day, I sat in the airport waiting lounge nervously6. On the one hand, I was deeply moved by David's passionate7 love for me. On the other hand, I was a bit worried by the uncertainties8 lying between us,” Xie said.

Fortunately, she later learned that David was a well-educated man (he was a doctorate9 degree holder), and he also had a very good family background.

When they got engaged, David bought a large villa10 for Xie in Yichang. In addition, she sent Xie's daughter to Britain to study in the Birmingham University. Fearing that the girl might feel lonely in Britain, David also sent two of her classmates to study in the Birmingham University, too.

Ms. Xie, as well as many other Chinese middle-aged women, can only speak a few English words. How can they communicate with foreigners, then? Well, in most cases, the matchmaking agents will help them to arrange a date.
