Chinanews, Lanzhou, Aug 29 – Nineteen years ago, China's first test tube baby Zheng Mengzhu was born. This year, Zheng will become a college student at Xi'an Xijing Institute when the new semester begins, in the forthcoming September, Lanzhou Daily reported.
Zheng's parents live in Yanguan Village, Lixian County, Shaanxi Province. She was born at the Peking University No. 3 Hospital on March 10, 1988, with the human-aided reproductive technology applied1 by Zhang Lizhu, China's renowned2 expert on human-aided reproductive technology. Zhang was the first expert to put such technology into practice in China at that time.
