Chinanews, Beijing, September 24 – The Renmin University of China has conducted a survey in Beijing on residents’ attitude toward pet dogs raising, finding that most of the respondents consider dogs as lovely and faithful friends. More than 70% of respondents who don’t keep pet dogs say they understand their neighbours who do so, as their devotion to dogs represents a strong sense of responsibility and love.
More than 50% of the respondents who keep dogs in Beijing treat dogs as irreplaceable family members. Most of the respondents think there should be regulations to protect pets and punish those who abuse them.
In most dog-keeping families, it is the husband who takes care of the dogs. It is not necessary to be rich to keep dogs.
According to the survey, 30% of the dog owners are in their 40s or 50s, and 28.3% of them in their 50s or 60s.
