Chinanews, Zhengzhou, October 25 – “We met in the cyber space, and now we live happily together,” said Mr. Liu proudly. Liu, 65, is a retired1 teacher in Zhengzhou, Henan Province.
Liu started surfing the Internet years ago. Last year, he met Ms. Wang on a BBS, and they fell in love with after several video chats. With the encouragement of their children, they got married eventually. Currently, there are many Zhengzhou elders who love surfing the Internet, where they can express their feelings freely without worrying about the gap of age. A large number of them have found their true love again via the Internet. The situation in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou is similar to that in Zhengzhou. An old man in Zhengzhou believes that elders are more capable of starting cyber romance than young people, as elders are usually experienced while young people are sometimes too impetuous. The Internet, as well as backpacking and video games, has become an irreplaceable part of life to many senior citizens in China nowadays, and it will become wider-known in the future among them for sure.
