Chinanews, Beijing, November 19 – Not many people, especially among northern Chinese, love bitter taste, but the Jino people in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan Province are crazy about bitter food. They enjoy the sweet after-taste of bitterness.

Jino is a very small ethnic1 group with a total population of around 20,000, but they have a long history and a very unique and attractive folk culture. They are very hardworking and hospitable2 people.

“I love bitter bamboo shoots, which keep me slim and healthy,” said Miss Che Huifen.

In fact, the three most popular drinks in the world, cocoa, coffee and tea, are all of bitter taste, and all three of them can be found in Yunnan. The coffee produced in Yunnan is famous for its rich fragrance3, and it has been cultivated and developed for more than 80 years. The Pu’er tea has already become one of the most important symbols of Yunnan.
