Chinanews, Beijing, Dec. 10 – Recently, Chinese people talked a lot about the big lottery1 prize winners that were often reported by media.
Not long ago, a Chinese won 100 million yuan through buying lottery tickets and another person won a big prize that was worth 65 million yuan. These fortune miracles drove more Chinese people to go to the lottery stations to buy lottery tickets, hoping that they would become the next lucky person, the Beijing Evening News reported. This year, the lottery industry has generated2 38 billion yuan of sales volume, according to the recent information released from the China Sports Lottery Administration Center. In Beijing, soon after the big winning prize was announced on November 27, sales volume of Union Lotto hit 9.45 million yuan. On December 2, its sales volume further hit the 10-million-yuan mark to reach 10.63 million yuan, according to the latest information from the Beijing Welfare Lottery Distribution Center. A lottery station located in the Jinbao Street recently became a lucky place for lottery buyers in Beijing after two one-million-yuan prize winners came from there. Wang Qihua, a migrant worker from Henan Province, was one of the loyal customers there. Wang earns 800 yuan a month and he spends half of his salary every month buying lottery tickets in the lottery station. “I don't have much to spend in my daily life. The company I work with provides me a place to live and they also take care of my meals. So, why not buy some lottery tickets here? Maybe I can win a top prize, too,” said Xiao Wang with excitement. The big prize, have also impelled3 Yang Jie, an office worker, to become a loyal lottery ticket buyer, too. Before, she was not interested at all in lottery ticket buying (in some way, she even despised4 it.) But now, when she gets off work, the first place she goes to will be the lottery station. “I might not be lucky enough to win a prize. But if I don't buy lottery tickets, there is no chance at all for me to win,” Yang said. As more and more Chinese people now start to buy lottery tickets, more problematic lottery buyers also appear at the same time. According to related statistics5, in foreign countries, problematic lottery buyers usually account for 2%-3% of the total number. In China, it is said that there are now 100 million lottery buyers. Based on this figure, it can be seen that there might be a large number of problematic lottery buyers in China.
