Hollywood action men Kirk Douglas and Harrison Ford donned aprons² and grabbed serving spoons to help dish out Thanksgiving dinners to Los Angeles' homeless here Wednesday.

Douglas, 90, was joined by "Indiana Jones" star Ford and a bevy³ of other celebrities⁴ who served up meals of roast turkey, mashed⁵ potatoes and gravy⁶ to the needy⁷ at the Los Angeles Mission on Skid⁸ Row.

It was the third year in a row that Douglas, the star of iconic Hollywood classics such as "Spartacus" and "Ulysses," has hosted the annual charity event at the downtown shelter and the Anne Douglas Center for Women.

Douglas thanked fellow celebrities and public figures such as Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa for supporting the event.

"It is also inspiring to see the actors and politicians come and help serve," Douglas said.

Other celebrities in attendance on Wednesday included Ford's partner, "Ally McBeal" star Calista Flockhart.

According to official figures released earlier this year, Los Angeles remains⁹ the United States homeless capital with more than 40,000 people sleeping rough every night.
