A 50-million US dollar Ebola treatment center built and financed1 by the Chinese government in Liberia is ready to begin treating patients.
利比里亚一座由中国政府出资并建造的价值5000万的埃博拉治疗中心即将开始救治病人。
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has toured the new center near Monrovia.
"We reached out to our partners and one of the first to respond was China, because China sent an aircraft that brought some of the first equipment, materials, medicines that enabled2 us to respond."
Construction of the 100-bed hospital was completed in just a month.
500 medical staff from China will be working in the center for the next six months.
Bao Yanxu is leader of the Chinese medical team.
"As we know, this disease3 is high risk, but we know how to treat the disease and how to protect ourselves; which we can do professionally."
The hospital is due to start accepting patients next week.
The facility in Liberia is part of the Chinese government's broader commitment4 of some 125-million US dollars so far in the fight against Ebola, which has claimed close to 55-hundred lives this year in West Africa.
