China's Long March-5 rocket has started its seven-day journey from Tianjin Port to the Wenchang satellite launch center in south China's Hainan Province.

As the largest carrier rocket in China, Long March-5 has a diameter of five meters, wider than the conventional 3.35 meters.

 

Wu Yanhua, deputy head of the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense¹, said the core technologies of the carrier rocket are China designed and built. 

 

"Long March-5 has made breakthroughs in materials, crafts, equipment and facilities in our space programs. The successful development of the carrier rocket has greatly uplifted China's capability² in space flight. It has led the way in carrier rocket development by serialization, stylization and modularization."

 

Meanwhile, the two rocket-ferrying ships, Yuanwang-21 and Yuanwang-22, were also unveiled to the public.
