Chinanews, Shenyang, Sept 21 – China's third generation of intelligent robots are expected to be launched1 into the market during the first half of next year. In the coming three years, Chinese public might be able to use robots with an even higher IQ, such as the fourth generation or the fifth generation of intelligent robots.

The third generation of intelligent robots are made by the Shenyang Siasun Robot and Automation3 Co2., Ltd. The company has spent two years and half in the design work. The third generation of intelligent robots have arms and legs and move more flexibly4 than previous robots. At present, many museums, exhibition centers, supermarkets and television stations have placed an order for the robot. The robot can take the role of human beings by working as tour guides, salespeople5 or TV hosts. However, compared with home robots, its functions are still rather limited.

With improvement6 being made, home robots will have more functions and they will be safer. They can understand human language better and they can know whether its master is happy or sad. They can thus communicate with human beings, said a person in charge at Siasun Robot and Automation Company.

Intelligent robots can communicate with their masters through remote controllers, short messages, and touch screens. They can sing songs, tell stories and chat with their masters. Apart from this, they can also serve as home guards. Once there is something wrong in the house, such as gas leaks7 or water tap drips8, the robot can send warning9 messages to the master’s mobile10 phones. It can also do a lot of household chores, such as cooking, house cleaning, babysitting11, taking care of seniors12 or kids at home. It can also work as a personal secretary.

Usually, an intelligent robot is sold at less than 10,000 yuan and most families can afford to buy it. So far, only Japan has put some intelligent robots for home use. China ranks among the top in the world in home robot research.
