The company StoreDot believes that by using nano-technology it has developed a way to make batteries that take just 30 seconds to be fully charged.

While the prototype is currently too bulky for a mobile phone, the company hopes to produce slim batteries for commercial use by 2016.

The innovation is based around the creation of nano-dots, which StoreDot describes as bio-organic peptide molecules². Nano-dots alter the way a battery behaves to allow the rapid absorption and the retention³ of power.

Doron Myersdorf, StoreDot's founder⁴ and chief executive, hopes that the technology could someday benefit electric cars, which he believes can be charged in two or three minutes.
