中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平11月14日在江苏省南京市主持召开全面推动长江经济带发展座谈会并发表重要讲话。他强调，要谱写生态优先绿色发展新篇章，打造区域协调发展新样板，构筑高水平对外开放新高地，塑造创新驱动发展新优势，绘就山水人城和谐相融新画卷。

President Xi Jinping called for efforts to write a new chapter in prioritizing ecological¹ conservation and boosting green development, create a new model for regional coordinated² development, create a new height for high-level opening-up, foster advantages in innovation-led development, and draw a new painting featuring harmony between nature, the people and the cities. Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks on Nov 14 in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, at a symposium³ he chaired on comprehensively advancing the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.

要在严格保护生态环境的前提下，全面提高资源利用效率，加快推动绿色低碳发展，努力建设人与自然和谐共生的绿色发展示范带。

We should comprehensively improve the efficiency of resource utilization⁴ and accelerate green and low-carbon development on the premise⁵ of strictly⁶ protecting the ecological environment, and build the region into a demonstration⁷ area that advances green development and promotes harmonious⁸ coexistence between human and nature.
